Dr. Dipak Kumar Maiti is an internationally respected academic leader, aerospace engineer, and innovation advisor with more than three decades of distinguished experience in advanced research, aerospace engineering, and global academic leadership. He currently serves as HAL Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India, and previously served as Head of the Department from 2016 to 2019.
Dr. Maiti earned his Ph.D. in Aerospace Structures, M.Tech., and B.E. with First Class Honors from IIT Kharagpur. His research expertise includes aerospace structures, aeroelasticity, smart materials, vibration control, structural health monitoring, computational mechanics, and hypersonic systems. He has published over 500 peer-reviewed journal papers, conference proceedings, technical reports, and edited volumes with internationally recognized publishers including Springer, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, AIAA, and ASCE.
His research leadership has contributed significantly to nationally strategic aerospace and defense programs in collaboration with organizations such as ADA, DRDO, ISRO, AR&DB, and DST. With more than three decades of distinguished service in the Bangladesh Civil Service (Information General Cadre), Mr. Halder held several senior leadership positions under the Ministry of Information of the Government of Bangladesh. His career included responsibilities in media governance, public communication policy, institutional administration, film and information management, and national publicity coordination. He concluded his government service as Director General of the Bangladesh Film Archive in 2018 after also serving as Additional Director General at the National Institute of Mass Communication.
